We are thrilled to announce that the new $29 million presidential exhibition at the Truman Library will open to more visitors on Friday, July 2, 2021. It closed July  22, 2019 for the major transformation, made possible by the Stay TRU Capital Campaign and friends and donors across the nation.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to visitor restrictions in response to the pandemic, the National Archives is requiring advance registration for all visitors. Purchase your general admission tickets – or reserve your FREE MEMBER tickets – at TrumanLibrary.gov.

MUSEUM HOURS

Museum hours and access are guided by the National Archives and Records Administration. Beginning July 2, 2021, Museum hours will be limited to:

Closed: Monday – Tuesday

9 am – 3 pm: Wednesday – Saturday

12 – 5 pm: Sunday

In addition, the Museum is closed for the following federal holidays: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day.

TIMED TICKETING & COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS

In accordance with the National Archives and Records Administration, the Harry S. Truman Library and Museum has announced the following guidelines regarding Museum admission.

  • The Harry S. Truman Presidential Library & Museum is committed to protecting the  health and safety of visitors and employees during the COVID-19 pandemic. Because  physical distancing is important in fighting the spread of COVID-19, the number of  guests in the museum is limited. Timed tickets will help control capacity numbers.
  • Timed tickets must be purchased in advance at TrumanLibrary.gov.
  • Truman Library Institute members enjoy free admission, but advance reservations are required. Reserve your FREE member tickets at TrumanLibrary.gov.
  • Guests may reserve up to six timed tickets. For larger groups,  please email your reservation request to Visitor Services at Truman.Library@nara.gov.
  • Please plan to arrive at the designated time on your ticket. There may be a short wait  when entering some exhibits because of capacity limits.
  • Guests who have recently tested positive for COVID-19, have a fever, or are  otherwise symptomatic on the date of their planned visit should not visit the museum.  Please contact us to reschedule or request a refund.

Map & Driving Directions

From KCI Airport: East and south on I-435 (Kansas City’s circumferential highway) about 32 miles, to U.S. 24 (Independence Avenue), and then east approximately 4 miles; destination will be on your left. From the north: I-35 to I-435 east then travel south to U.S. 24 east. Travel approximately 4 miles; destination will be on your left.

Parking

Parking is free for Museum visitors. Free motorcoach parking is also available.

Accessibility

The Harry S. Truman Library and Museum is wheelchair accessible. For your convenience, wheelchairs are available on a first come, first served basis.
